Models Available to Measure up to 1,000 lb Tension In Flexible Cable Diameters as large as 3/8" diameter. Easy-to-read Dials in lb or kg
For dynamic tension measurement of line speeds in excess of 25 feet per minute, permanent mounting is advised.
- Direct Reading Dials eliminate the need for reference tables.
- Calibration is simple with the built-in micrometer adjustment.
- Engagement and disengagement onto materials is quick and easy.
- All new instruments are warrantied against defects in materials or workmanship for the period of one (1) year
* Depends on the physical characteristics of the material. The material sample will need to be evaluated by Tensitron.
Note: Accuracy at the bottom 10% of the tension range is +/- 4%.
CM Series of mechanical Cable Tension Meters
The CM-Series cable tension meters are portable mechanical instruments which weigh approximately 6 lb and are made of non-corrosive materials. For instrument ranges 500 lb and lower, the meter width is 16.75". Higher-range instruments have a maximum width of 19.75". Each instrument is provided with a sturdy polyethylene carrying case with dense foam inserts to protect the meter. Made in the U.S.A.
Tensitron's Cable Tension Meters are designed for use on flexible materials with diameters up to 3/8" (9mm). The diameter and rigidity of your cable, the line speeds of your processes, and your expected tension range will determine the instrument best suited for your application.
Note: Each instrument is built and calibrated to read the tension on one specific material of the customer's choice. When measuring other materials, the meter will provide a repeatable reference but not a direct tension reading.
CABLE CONSTRUCTION:
Wire Rope Constructions are determined by the number of strands, and the number of wires per strand. For example, a 7 x 7 rope consists of 7 strands, and each strand is made with 7 wires.
Generally, any wire rope constructed from solid, single strands (for example; 1 x 6, 1 x 7 or 1 x 19) will be too stiff to allow accurate tension measurements using a tension meter. These types of non-flexible wire-rope constructions are widely used on standing rigging, such as communication towers and sail boat rigging. Excessively stiff cables will cause overloading and damage to the instrument.
7 x 7 and 7 x 19 constructions are used when flexibility in the cable is required. The C-Series of mechanical tension meters are designed to measure tension up to 1,000 lb on these types of cables.
